Granada 1
Sunday morning we headed out to catch a bus to Granada deciding to eat breakfast on the way, but since it was sunday it was super hard to find anything open as its a family day. Finally we came across a super cheap comedor and ate the typical Nicaraguan breakfast of eggs, pinto gallo and fried cheese. The fried cheese was amazing by the way. Right beside the bus station we also found a wonderful smoothie shop which we took the time to enjoy before setting foot in the crazy bus 'field'.
Once in Granada and after figuring out where we were dropped off set to work on finding a good hotel to spend the night before heading to Ometepe the following afternoon. After checking out a few places and making sure Kacie was good and tired of carrying her backpack we settled on Hospedaje La Libertad. Decent rooms for a cheap price plus hammocks for lazing around in. :-)
The rest of the afternoon was spent on a wonderful one-hour horse and carriage tour of the city courtesy of our entertaing bilingual guide and of course shopping. Kacie and I indulged ourselves in new purses and some jewelry and presents for people back home while Rigel found himself a nice new pair of leather shoes. Some of the shop keepers wouldn't budge on their prices but for the ones that did, I enjoyed the friendly act of bargaining for less than the tourist price.
For the next morning we decided to pamper ourselves with a massage after a wonderful breakfast. You really can't beat having three, one hour massages for $50 in a really relaxing professional setting. Around one in the afternoon we returned to the hotel for our bags and a quick shower then hurried off to the docks to catch the four hour ferry to Ometepe Island at 2.
